Cal Poly Tied for 8th Place After First Round of Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – Jamie Binns and Desiree Gillaspy are in the top 20 after the first round of play Friday in the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Denver at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club outside of Denver, Colo.

Binns (pictured at right) posted a one-under-par 71 on the 6,450-yard par-72 layout and is tied for 11th place while Gillaspy is tied for 19th place after recording a par 72.

Jamie Harada, the reigning Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month, checked in with a 74 and is tied for 38th place while Meridith Hirsch is tied for 53rd place following her round of 76.

Rounding out Cal Poly's scoring was Mallory Muehlbauer with an 82, tied for 76th place.

Cal Poly is in a three-way tie for eighth place after 18 holes of play. The Mustangs, Wyoming and Pepperdine all carded four-person five-over-par 293 totals.

New Mexico and host Denver share first place with five-under-par 283 totals while Texas-San Antonio and Oregon State are tied for third place with 286 aggregates. There are 14 teams in the field.

Individual leader after 18 holes is Ingrid Gutierrez of New Mexico with a six-under-par 66, one stroke ahead of Oregon State's Ellie Slama. Patricia Wong of Pepperdine, competing as an individual, is third with a 68.

Second round will be played Saturday with the final round on Sunday.
