SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's basketball team will host its home opener this week, welcoming Grand Canyon to Mott Athletics Center for an 11 a.m. tipoff Thursday morning.
In a matinée rematch of a 64-59 Lopes win in Phoenix last December (the first-ever meeting between the two schools), Thursday's game will feature free 2017-18 Cal Poly schedule posters for the first 250 fans.
The Mustangs will then wrap the week by visiting Saint Mary's on Sunday afternoon, with a 1 p.m. start from McKeon Pavilion in Moraga. Comcast Hometown Network will televise the matchup in the Bay Area.
STANBACK LEADS MUSTANGS AT USF: Making her Cal Poly debut, junior center Devin Stanback scored a team-leading (and career-high) 17 points in the Mustangs' season opener on Nov. 10, an 83-71 loss at San Francisco.
Stanback, who joined the Mustangs as a transfer via Pepperdine two offseasons ago, went 6-of-9 from the floor (5-for-7 from the free-throw line), and also grabbed six rebounds on the evening.
Her opening-week field-goal percentage of .667 is the Big West's second-best early on. While with the Waves, Stanback's previous career high (16) also came against the Dons, in February 2016 as a sophomore.
HOLIDAY BEACH CLASSIC RETURNS NOV. 24-26: USF will also attend this year's ShareSLO Holiday Beach Classic along with Robert Morris (back-to-back Northeast Conference champions), joining the Mustangs at the 11th annual tournament with free admission.

LEAUPEPE TWINS SELECTED TO PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM: Cal Poly seniors Dynn Leaupepe and Lynn Leaupepe were each chosen to the Preseason All-Big West Team announced Oct. 25.
The twin sisters from Camarillo were joined by UC Davis junior forward Morgan Bertsch, UC Santa Barbara senior forward Drew Edelman, CSUN junior center Channon Fluker and Hawai'i senior guard Sarah Toeaina.
Dynn Leaupepe broke the single-season school record for free-throw percentage in 2016-17, shooting .887 (110-for-124) while averaging 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals.
No. 11 in school history in career scoring (1,047 points — five back of Jessica Eggleston for No. 10), Dynn is also the Big West's sixth-leading all-time free-throw shooter (.815). A back-to-back All-Big West honorable mention and the conference Player of the Week on Jan. 9 as a junior, she begins this week with 441 career rebounds, 148 assists and 108 steals.
Lynn Leaupepe earned All-Big West Second Team accolades last season, averaging 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals. She had nine double-doubles as a junior — tied for the second-most throughout the conference.
Named conference Player of the Week on Jan. 23, 2017, Lynn ranks No. 25 in program history with 789 points, as well as No. 12 all-time in rebounding, with 503 boards.
CAL POLY VOTED FOURTH, SIXTH IN PRESEASON POLLS: Cal Poly was voted tied for fourth with Hawai'i in the conference's preseason media poll with 98 points, and sixth in the coaches poll with 44 points (including one first-place vote).
Defending Big West regular-season champion UC Davis was voted No. 1 in each poll, with CSUN and UCSB occupying second & third in both as well.
Big West action will start at UC Riverside on Jan. 4. The first round (featuring seeds 5-8) and quarterfinals (adding the No. 3 and 4 seeds) of the 35th annual Big West Tournament will be held from March 6-7 at Fullerton's Titan Gym, before the semifinals and championship game move to the Honda Center in Anaheim for March 9-10.
