Mustang Minute: Baseball Sophomore Center Fielder Alex McKenna

EDITOR'S NOTE: Mustang Minute, which debuted in February and features interviews with Mustang student-athletes that run each Monday, puts the spotlight on baseball sophomore centerfielder Alex McKenna this week.

McKenna currently sports a .360 batting average, lifting his average 62 points by going 36-for-92 (.391) in his last 21 games. He is 20-for-42 (.476) in Cal Poly's last nine games with seven multiple-hit contests and belted his first two home runs of the season last week against Santa Clara.

A communication studies major from Canyon Country, Calif., McKenna is a graduate of Alemany High School in the San Fernando Valley.

The Mustangs currently are in third place in the Big West standings after taking two of three games against UC Irvine, Hawai'i and UC Davis during the first three weeks of conference play.

Cal Poly hosts No. 8 Cal State Fullerton for three games this weekend at Baggett Stadium. First pitches are set for 6 p.m. both Friday and Saturday, with Sunday's series finale set for a 1 o'clock start.
