SAN LUIS OBISPO – Following a two-game stint where she connected on nine of 12 three-point attempts and averaged 18.5 points per two Cal Poly victories, Mustang women’s basketball junior guard Rachel Clancy earned her first Big West Conference Player of the Week honor early Monday afternoon.

A native of Limerick Ireland and recent selectee to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 8 second team, Clancy hit four of seven three-point attempts against UC Davis on Feb. 4 to finish with 14 points as Cal Poly usurped the Aggies for first place in th Big West standings with a 69-48 victory. Clancy, who has started all 22 games for Cal Poly (15-7, 8-2) this season, also recorded five assists against UC Davis.

Two days later during a 99-66 pummeling of Pacific, Clancy converted all five of her three-point attempts and seven of nine shots from the field to finish with a game-high 23 points. Clancy was also 4-for-4 from the free throw line and recorded five rebounds and five assists against Pacific.

Clancy enters Cal Poly’s 7 p.m. matchup at Long Beach State on Thursday, Feb. 11 leading all Big West players with a 50.6 percent three-point mark while ranking second with a 51.1 percent field goal figure. She also ranks 12th among conference performers with 12.0 points per contest.

Monday’s honor was the conference-leading fourth Player of the Week award for Cal Poly this year, following praise for junior forward Kristina Santiago on Dec. 14, Jan. 11 and Jan. 18.

Cal Poly returns home to host UC Riverside on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. inside Mott Gym.
